Plastic waste: more sustainable management

The problem exists, and it is positive that the European Union is pushing for a search for alternatives products made from other materials, but we wonder if the aim of eliminating these plastic products by 2021 is a proportional and realistic objective.

The EU declares war on these 10 plastics” was the (alarming) headline of an article published recently in the La Vanguardia newspaper, which reported on the increasing concern of EU institutions in view of the enormous volume of waste generated by single-use plastic articles, i.e., those that have not been conceived to be reused or recycled, but for applications with a short useful life, such as plastic cups, plates and cutlery, drinking straws, bags, caps, beverage bottles and food packaging, among others.
