The focus of this May issue is the preview of the annual AIFEC (Iberian Association of Continuous Label Manufacturers) conference, taking place from May 15 to 18 in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife. In this issue, we dedicate the cover to a winery with a deeply distinctive personality thanks to the remarkable career of its founder. We're talking about Jean Leon, located in the Penedès region of Barcelona. In these pages, we speak with Cristina Borda, its marketing manager, who explains how the winery approaches the packaging of its renowned wines. In our March issue, we covered a dossier on Automation and Robotics that offers various views and perspectives on how new technologies are impacting the packaging industry and how they are being integrated into companies' overall strategies, bringing numerous benefits that will only increase as their adoption becomes more widespread. We discussed all of this, for example, with Alfonso Muñoz, Head of New Business at the Spanish Robotics and Automation Association, who confirmed that "automation is a key factor in a country's economic competitiveness." This is the part that is most forgotten - or least known - by the consumer; different associations and reference companies provide us with data and bring us closer to their latest innovations. ITENE explains to us “How to evaluate and optimize the packaging of your products” in an interesting dossier, while we celebrate the 90 years of existence of the beverage can. We are inaugurating the new year with renewed sections that are closer to current trends and the interests of our readers. The ITENE dossier, which explains how to transform the challenge of the European Packaging Regulation into a competitive advantage, is integrated, in this first issue of 2025, into a special that we have prepared on “Sustainability: emerging strategies”; in this sense, we address the current key theme from different points of view and perspectives. On the cover we have Leyre Arce, Head of Marketing and Innovation at Grupo Consorcio, the well-known canned food company from Santoña, who tells us about the company's efforts to balance quality, sustainability and authenticity in its products. Finally, although there are other and varied contents, we offer a complete summary of the renowned Pentawards packaging design awards and an interesting interview with Mónica Yoldi, designer and director of the Escuela Superior de Diseño de La Rioja (ESDIR), which leaves us with a great headline: “Wine and EVOO labels have become canvases to tell stories and experiences.”

We bid farewell to 2024 with an issue in which we compile the most emblematic packaging designs that have appeared in our pages throughout the year. These are projects for different products and markets that serve to demonstrate that eco-design and innovation are part of the DNA of packaging and to highlight the high level of “Made in Spain” design. One of these brands is, without a doubt, Àuria Perfumes (on the cover), whose spokespersons, Maria Armengol and Fanny Le Bonniec, explain to us that “Good packaging not only communicates brand values, it also acts as an extension of the product”; this interview is very interesting to read. With the ASPACK congress as our closest horizon and as the epicentre of the cardboard packaging world, where InfoPack will be present, we are offering an October issue packed with varied content, always in line with our attempt to provide a 360° view of the current state of packaging.
