El Corte Inglés achieves significant environmental savings from the use of CHEP´s reusable pallet

Thanks to the use of the pooling system, the distribution group has managed to reduce its CO2 emissions by 55% compared to the single-use pallet.

CHEP, a supplier of supply chain solutions, has awarded El Corte Inglés the Certificate of Sustainability which accredits the environmental savings achieved by the company, thanks to its sustainable logistics model and its contribution to the protection of the environment.

After more than 20 years of collaboration, El Corte Inglés continues to support CHEP's intrinsically sustainable pooling system and its circular economy business model, based on sharing and recycling its platforms. Thanks to the use of CHEP's pooling pallet, in the last year El Corte Inglés has avoided emitting more than 1,200 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere, equivalent to 29 round-the-world lorries. In addition, it has also saved 1,093,261 dm3 of wood, equivalent to 1,056 trees, and 111,110 kg of waste or, in other words, 26 complete trucks.

For all these reasons, CHEP has recently awarded it the Certificate of Sustainability, which is obtained by companies that achieve significant environmental savings through the use of reusable pallets during their logistics activity.

Vicente Mollá, General Manager of CHEP Spain, says: “We are proud that El Corte Inglés is committed to our sustainable business model and has achieved these environmental savings. We hope to continue joining forces, as we have been doing for more than 20 years, and continue to contribute to a more sustainable future”.
