Innovative packaging to reduce food waste

Food waste has become a global problem in recent years. According to the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations), more than 691 million people suffered from hunger in 2022, while an estimated 13% of the world's food is lost in the supply chain, between post-harvest and retail.

To this must be added the amount that is wasted in households, food services and the retail trade, a figure that amounts to 17% according to UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme). The result is an average annual waste of 121 kg at consumer level, of which 74 kg is wasted in households.
Which are the consequences?
This situation has serious social, economic and environmental consequences.
