Packaging plays a crucial role in protecting food from contamination and ensuring that it reaches consumers in optimum condition, both in terms of quality and safety.

 

However, in order to do so, it is vital to consider not only the main packaging material, but also other components, which, although minor, may come into contact with food or transfer some of their constituent substances directly or indirectly to the food.
