Last February 22nd, ITENE received a recognition to its work since 1994 in the form of a visit: His Majesty the King visited our research centre to know first-hand the work that we do here for the whole value chain of packaging, transport and logistics.

We were also accompanied by representatives of the main institutions of the State and of the Valencia Region, of society and of the productive fabric for which we work. We had planned to celebrate our 25th anniversary, but the pandemic prevented us, like so many others, from continuing with the plans we had in 2020 to share the joy of having travelled the road that has brought us this far.

On the day of Felipe VI's visit, we were finally able to celebrate by showing the work we are doing through a tour of various laboratories and pilot plants in which the monarch spoke with some of our researchers, who explained the technological capabilities of our research centre, as well as the challenges and solutions addressed in various R&D projects we are carrying out in the development of new sustainable and advanced materials, recycling and waste recovery technologies, solutions for sustainable logistics and smart mobility and the assessment of exposure to pollutants and monitoring of air quality.

The King, who was accompanied during his visit by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, and by the President of the Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig, was received by the President of ITENE, Pedro Ballester. In addition, Felipe VI was able to talk with the members of the Board of Directors, which brings together the public and private sectors and is composed of four representatives of the General Directorates of the Generalitat Valenciana, business associations and leading companies in the fields of packaging, FMCG, transport and distribution.

The monarch made statements at a subsequent event organised by the Valencian Business Association (AVE) in which he highlighted "the magnificent work" carried out by our centre and praised our "tangible, visible, results-driven commitment to R&D&I" as "a magnificent exponent of innovation and progress in the Valencian Community". Undoubtedly, these statements were the perfect end to a day of celebration and a recognition of the commitment, effort and passion for our work.

Undoubtedly, this visit by Don Felipe has helped to make this work better known, as it was widely reported in various media, both general and sectorial. This echo in the media is a recognition of the effort we make every day and that directly benefits the industry and society in general.

Infopack has been witnessing all this for more than 20 years through the pages where we tell our progress, as well as the trends and news in the world of packaging.
