Alimentaria Exhibition and the Spanish Wine Federation (FEV in its Spanish initials) have agreed to work in partnership to promote the Barcelona Wine Week trade fair, which will be held for the first time at Fira de Barcelona’s Montjuïc venue from 3 to 5 February 2020.

With an expected occupancy of more than 30,000 m2 and around 600 exhibitors, this disruptive in nature and professional event was created with the desire to become the largest showcase of quality Spanish wine for national and international operators.

Barcelona Wine Week (BWW) is receiving a very positive reception from companies, institutions and organisations in the sector nationally. The agreement with the FEV (the most representative private organisation which groups together the Spanish wine sector, with over 600 member companies across the country) will be decisive to increasing the exhibitor participation of the most renowned wine cellars at the new event.

J. Antonio Valls, Director General of Alimentaria Exhibitions, emphasises that “BWW aims to be a true reflection of the state of the wine industry in Spain and an unbeatable opportunity to continue strengthening its internationalisation. In this regard, the role of the FEV as a strategic partner and spokesperson for the concerns and needs of the sector will be key for making this project the great business and opportunity platform that all the main players in the sector were waiting for.

Meanwhile, José Luis Benitez, the General Director of the Spanish Wine Federation, points out that the launch of Barcelona Wine is good news that can contribute to improving the image and value of Spanish wine in international markets. In this regard, it is encouraging wine cellars to participate in this first edition, which is endorsed by the experience of Alimentaria Exhibitions in the organising of this type of event and with important new features to increase the business opportunities and thus maximising the return of the exhibiting companies.

A trade show with true business potential

Barcelona Wine Week will completely occupy Halls 1 and 8 of the Fira de Barcelona Montjuïc venue, with a 30,000 m2 surface area and more than 600 exhibitors expected to participate. These will range from wine groups and renowned makes to projects and proposals that arise from the sector, as well as a strong presence of wines protected under various quality seals.

Similarly, distilled beverages will be represented at the fair, as well as equipment, utensils, accessories and services tailored to the sector. For all of these, BWW offers a unique journey through the territory through a transformational design of its spaces that highlights the rich wine-making culture of the country and the peculiarities of each zone.

BWW is expected to gather more than 15,000 professional visitors together and estimates that more than 5,800 B2B meetings will be held during the trade show.
