At a moment of change in which the transformation towards the circular economy is taking place, Valencia will become the epicentre of the packaging future in 2024, a unique opportunity in Spain and Europe to learn about the key trends and technological solutions for the transformation of the sector.

More than 400 researchers, experts and business professionals will meet between 17 and 21 June at the 24th IAPRI World Packaging Conference, which will be hosted by ITENE to coincide with its 30th anniversary. Valencia will thus become the venue for the most important scientific and technological congress of the sector at a global level in 2024 and the largest IAPRI conference in its history this summer. Then, more than 150 speakers of the highest level will meet after their selection by the scientific committee from more than 200 abstracts of experts from companies and research centres from 32 countries in America, Asia, Europe and Oceania.

This meeting will be an opportunity to disseminate and explore in depth the main advances in R&D key to tackling the challenges facing the packaging sector through different topics. Specifically, in terms of Packaging Materials, attendees will be able to learn about research, success stories, new developments and innovations in paper and cardboard, cellulose, biopolymers, bioplastics and other sustainable materials. Meanwhile, with regard to Packaging Sustainability in the Supply Chain, sustainable packaging solutions for waste reduction, life cycle analysis, eco-design, consumer perception and adaptation to regulations and legislation, among others, will be presented.

The conference topics will also include Packaging Design and Development, with talks on sustainable materials, consumer preferences, performance, recyclability and design innovations.

The conference will also focus on improvements in Packaging for distribution of goods. In this area, the focus will be on packaging design based on optimisation and simulations of transport conditions to determine the impact on the packaging and the value chain.

Valencia will also be the place where top-level speakers will present Packaging machinery and technologies, a topic under which novel methods for controlling packaging technologies, as well as new control methods, will be discussed.

Finally, the last of the six conference themes will focus on Product conditioning and packaging technologies. These will include packaging technologies, active or intelligent packaging systems, sustainable packaging alternatives, improved closure systems and methods for detecting contamination by microplastics or specific bacteria such as E.coli.

ITENE is very honoured to host an event that will be a meeting place for the industry on a date when we will be celebrating our 30th anniversary. Therefore, we will offer professionals, experts and scientists participating or attending the meeting the opportunity to get to know us first-hand through the ITENE Tours, which will mark the start and end of the conference on 17 and 21 June.

The presentations and poster exhibitions will be held on 18 and 19 June, followed by the final sessions, the IAPRI General Assembly and the awards ceremony on 20 June. The official ITENE 30th anniversary dinner will also be held. Registration is open and can be done through the conference website (https://iapri2024.itene.com/), where information about the programme, agenda, speakers, location and dates of the event, among others, can be consulted.

This event will be the maximum exponent of our commitment to the generation and transfer of knowledge to companies, but also the starting point for future synergies, collaborations and innovations. Therefore, we invite you to be part of the 24th IAPRI World Packaging Conference. The future of packaging starts in Valencia.
